Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson has shared a heartfelt message after Josh Berry secured his first Cup win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway yesterday.
Driving the iconic No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford Mustang, Berry has brought the longest-standing team in NASCAR its 101st win in its 75th year in the sport.
Wood Brothers Racing was formed in 1950 by five brothers - Ray Lee, Clay, Delano, Glen, and Leonard Wood. Over the years, the team has completed 1,766 Cup Series races and celebrated 101 Cup race victories.
Johnson is widely regarded as one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. The Californian has seven Cup Series championships to his name, five of which were consecutive titles, putting him on par with fellow NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Since retiring from full-time Cup Series racing at the end of the 2020 season, Johnson continues on a part-time basis while also running the Legacy Motor Club team as the majority owner.
Although Johnson did not drive for Wood Brothers Racing during his illustrious career, he shared a heartfelt message to mark the milestone moment for both Berry and the team. He shared:
"What a memorable day for the sport of NASCAR and our fans. We witnessed a racer live the dream and collect his first W in the big show. Well done Josh Berry! Couple that with the history of the Wood Brothers, while celebrating their 75th year in the sport. There's only one thing left to do. Let's raise a glass!"

Reacting to the monumental moment, Berry explained to the media after the race that it is "just incredible" to be part of the Wood Brothers team:
"It's just incredible. They've been so good to me. It's been a great relationship. Obviously, thank everybody at Wood Brothers Racing, but Team Penske as well. They've welcomed me with open arms and tried to help me and accelerate this learning process as much as I can. I really can't say enough for Miles Stanley. He is so good at what he's doing and we have a great thing going on together. He really believes in me."
